We aim to address the lack of provision in the local area for the children. There is a high number of children hanging around in the streets, and on local, run down estates, and statistically there are many child muggings.

When we questioned local children they said they were bored, that there was nothing to do. We now provide a wealth of activities for children.

Junior Art Club for 5–11 year olds, on Tuesdays, gives the children the opportunity to work in all media, expressing their own creativity and imagination within a constructive, structured environment. All the children love the club and there is a long waiting list for places in it.

Kaleidoscope is an after-school club for young people aged between 8–13 years old running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. They have the choice of doing a creative activity, whether that be art-related, photography, drama or film-making. There are also other activities, such as pool, table tennis, team games, board games and karaoke!

We also run sessions in life management and money management, and in these ways we are able to support the children in their preparation for the adult world.

We also offer an after-school study group to help local children in basic literacy, spelling, numeracy and other course work with which they are struggling.

When we have funding we organise outings and trips based on requests and suggestions made to us by the children. Now and again we run one-off courses in subjects like photography for the local children. These are always well attended and popular.

We have also exhibited some of the children's work in various galleries in the City. These exhibitions have been very popular and many of the young artists have been commissioned to produce further work. Click here for details of these exhibitions.
